"A boy who can't stand up for himself becomes a man who can't stanp up for anything"

"A boy who can't stand up for himself becomes a man who can't stand up for anything" p. 22 Do you agree or disagree? Explain I disagree with that because if someone doesn't stand up for themselves than that doesn't mean that he can't stand up for anything. Maybe that person can't stand up for themselves at that moment. The person probably doesn't want to because he is too weak to do it at the moment. The person can either not care what people do to them. People are very different from other people some people may find some things to stupid to stand up for while others find it worth it. Like the saying one mans trash is another man's treasure. The man who thinks is trash won't do anything for the trash meaning that he won't stand up for it but the man who thinks it's a treasure will do anything to get his hands on it meaning that he will stand up for it. I can also relate the solders who get tortured out in war. Some of the men would give up any info that they have just to get away from the pain that they will experience, while some soldiers would rather die for their country. The men that die for their country are like the men who stand up for something. All the soldiers that fight for our country once could not stand up for themselves in the training they had to take to become soldiers.

What makes someone a friend? Who would you rather have as a friend-Amir or Hassan? Explain

Hassan would be a better choice for a friend because he won't make me do something that I don't want to do. Amir would make me do stuff so he can just laugh in the inside at me. Like when Amir let Hassan read the books only because he taught it was funny to see Hassan struggle reading it. Hassan is a very loyal friend to Amir but Amir does not even see him as a friend but as a servent. Hassan defends Amir all the time and if you don't see that as a friend than maybe you should'nt have any. I would pick Hassan to be my friend not for him to do what i want but for him to just be there when i need him most. My mom always said that friends are there but they will not always be there. In Amir's case that is differnent because Hassan is a person he has grown up with. they are like brothers. A friend who is like a bother i would take anyday. The better choice for a friend would be Hassan.

What is it about Love that heals wounds? Should Amir have told Soroya about Hassan?

What is it about Love that heals wounds? Should Amir have told Soroya about Hassan?
Love heals wounds because if someone is alone, hurt and they don't know what to do. But than someone comes and shows them the love that they have wanted and it heals the wounds of being alone. i think that Amir should have told her because Amir has kept that secret all his life and every time someone mentions Hassan's name Amir ends up feeling very guilty that it kills him in the inside. Like when Amir found out that Ali knew about Hassan's rape he lost some stress about it. So it's true that the truth sets you free. In Amir's case that sounds like a very good idea. Amir can't even think about the rape of Hassan because every time he just can’t take it he chokes. Like when he was in the car with Baba and than Baba mentions Hassan and Amir has to leave the car because he could not breathe. This is too much stress to be holding in for the amount of years that Amir has. He should have told Soroya (the love of his life) about Hassan than he would have let the stress go away little by little.

Pg-301 " A man who has no conscience, no goodness, does not suffer"

Pg-301 " A man who has no conscience, no goodness, does not suffer" pg 301 I think that Rahim Khan is trying to say that if someone doesn't feel guilty for something they did than that means that they don't have any goodness in them. Which means that they are not a good person a kind person. this person will be a person without a heart, no kindness and only caring for themselves. When Khan also said that a man without guilt has no conscience he was trying to say that this person does not think back on what he/she does, this person just goes on with their life not caring for the wrongs that they have committed. They don't have morals about life when they don't feel anything when they commit a wrong. A person who doesn't have have neither conscience nor goodness does not suffer from the remindings of his past wrongs. He doesn't feel anything when someone mentions something that reminds him/her of the event. Like when Amir always choked when he heard the very mention of the name Hassan. Rahim was trying to say the Amir is a good person and he does not have to suffer for his wrongs again.

Compare and Contrast the Movie to the Book

1. What's noticeably absent from the movie that you think should be in the movie and why?

The part that is noticeably absent from the film is the part where Baba has the attack while Amir and him were at the marketplace. In the book the doctor told Baba he had cancer and than Amir and Baba drove home and Baba demanded that Amir not tell anyone that he has cancer. Than Baba had the attack in he marketplace and thats how everyone found out that he had cancer. In the film the doctors tell Baba that he has cancer and than it just shows Baba on a hospital bed with Soraya's family in the room. The movie should have followed the book in that part because that changes who Baba is. Baba did not want anyone to find out about his cancer but in the film they already know once he has the cancer. He does this because he has a strong personality and he doesn't want people to see that he is weak, he has his honor and pride. Some examples in which Baba shows that he is strong is when Amir and Baba were going to get food stamps and Baba rejected the food stamps.
